Seven Commercial Uses Of Cryogenic Gases

By Douglas Thompson

Technology has come up with very many ways aimed at ensuring that processes are effective. Fluids have been used for storage and other production purposes for a very long time. Cryogenic gases have the property of remaining in their liquid states at temperatures which are extremely low. This is a property that is not common to a majority of other such fluids. Due to this feature, they have received a comprehensive application in many industries all over the world. Below are a couple of ways that they can be used.

Companies and the military have used them to transport food. Moving massive amounts of highly perishable foods require the application of freezing. While there are those who prefer using mobile freezers, the use of these gases is more advantageous. It has no effect on the food and keeps the food fresh and uncontaminated. The products can stay for a long time before spoiling even after transportation.

Storing of blood is another of its application. Prior to this invention, there was always a problem where they used systems that would lead to the blood getting contaminated or out of order. There are certain types that have to be stored as they are rare. Once these gases are used for the purpose, it remains fresh and poses no health threat when it is used.

Entertainment industry has also adopted the use of these products. They apply the products in the form of a fog in nightclubs which creates a fog-like atmosphere which also creates a chilling effect. It is effective and safe as it delivers the desired atmosphere and does not affect the health of the individuals present.

In addition, recycling plants make use of the fluids. Turning the products into their liquid state and then remolding them is an expensive and resources consuming activity. Once the liquids are applied, an effect of freezing is created which make the particles of the material being recycled disassemble and from there it becomes easy for the plant to produce the item that they desire out of the material.

It is also important to note that gases are also used in manufacturing plants to maintain equipment. Depending on the type of equipment, there are those which require cooling and those which require sharpening. Using conventional means to achieve these functions is time consuming and also uses a lot of resources. However, when the fluids are applied, they solve the issues within a short time.

Majority of the rocket companies use the gas to propel their rockets into space. Instead of using other forms that are heavy and which may lead to failure, application of Cryogenic products is preferred. The choice is affordable and has proved effective over and again in propelling the machines.

Finally, the products also aid in the transmission of electricity in huge cities. Moving power across cities that are overcrowded is not simple. Accidents are likely to happen in the course if they apply overhead system. But there is still a problem when underground systems are used. To reduce the heating and resistance created by underground cables, the gases are used and thus uninterrupted power transmission.
