The first main factor that affects the relationship between parents and their children is their communication. This factor once handles is sure to result in a smooth relationship between them. The factor of communication will thus be the main factor elaborated in this article to help parents build good relationships with their children.

The main mistake by many parents is when they get angry and react in very harsh ways for example using insults or belittling the child. Everyone does mistakes and children are prone to it. However, by being harsh to the child and showing aggression, they become resigned and this in turn affects the relationship between the child and the parent. Always take calm and in control approach instead.

Instead of being harsh and acting in anger, parents should instead opt for the use of the calm in control approach. This approach involves having the parent speak to the child in a neutral calm tone to tell them that they have done wrong and you are displeased with them. Often, the child will feel guilty that they have disappointed their parents and will thus opt to be better in future.

Praises work for everyone. By receiving praises people want to do better than they had previously done so as to receive more praises for their actions. This is also true with children, praising them encourages them to be better next time. It can be a good way of instilling good behaviors and also build their self-esteem and self-value. The kids will also be willing to praise you too.

Parents are often too involved in doing other things and barely notice their children when they want to communicate with them. Although the information they communicate may seem minor at the time, ignoring them completely does more harm as it affects their self-esteem. Parents are thus encouraged to take time and listen to their kids and try to understand what they are saying.

Although children may not have the enhanced thinking as adults assume they have, their opinions or suggestions on a matter should not be carelessly disregarded. Parents should show that they appreciate the input of their child on a certain matter by analyzing it and taking it into consideration. This also applies to when the kid is being punished.

Being a parent is both tedious and joyful. However, it is limited in time, thus parents need to keep in mind that soon their kids will grow up and have their own children too. The way they have been cared or reared will also determine the way they will raise up their kids. Parents should thus ensure that they properly raise their kids for the sake of the future generation.
